Smarttia has completed the sale of its subsidiaries Greenalia Forest and Greenalia Logistics to the Portuguese multinational Altri for a total amount of €15.8M, finalizing a transaction that was announced last January. The deal represents a decisive step in Smarttia’s corporate strategy, as the company will allocate all the proceeds to continue investing in the projects currently under development, thereby strengthening its financial structure and growth capacity.
Over recent years, Greenalia Forest had established itself as one of the leading companies in the Galician forestry sector, managing more than 600,000 tons of timber per year destined for the pulp, biomass, wood-based panels, and derivatives industries. Greenalia Logistics, for its part, became a key operator in the efficient transport and distribution of forestry resources.
Smarttia highlights that the divestment reinforces the group’s position and allows it to further accelerate ongoing projects, noting that the transaction was carried out at an optimal time and with a buyer that has strong operational capabilities and sector expertise.
The company emphasizes that ensuring the continuity of forestry activity was a priority, maintaining stability for suppliers, forest owners, and rural communities.
About Greenalia:
Greenalia is an independent power producer exclusively using renewable technologies. The company relies solely on wind, solar, and forest biomass—derived from residues from certified plantation harvesting—to generate and store electricity in harmony with nature, creating jobs and fostering innovation in the areas where it operates (Europe and the United States). Its core activity is the generation and sale of electricity, and it is active across six technologies: onshore wind, offshore wind, solar photovoltaic, biomass, storage, and hydrogen.
About Altri:
Altri is a Portuguese industrial group specialized in the production of cellulosic fibers and the sustainable management of forest resources. With more than two decades of experience, the company operates several internationally recognized plants dedicated to the production of pulp, forest-based textile fibers, and advanced solutions for the bioeconomy.
