Greenalia has completed the construction of the Alto da Croa Wind Farm (WF), located in the municipality of Vimianzo (Galicia, Spain) with an installed capacity of 7.3 MW and an expected annual output of 26,100 MWh. The installation, which has already been connected to the grid, will generate renewable energy equivalent to the annual consumption of 800 families and will avoid the emission of 10,000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.
The commissioning of the Alto da Croa WF has required an investment of more than 6 million euros and has had an economic impact for the Vimianzo town council, through taxes and fees, of over 140,000 euros. The high level of agreement reached by the company with the landowners, 97%, also stands out, reflecting the dialogue and the company’s willingness to establish stakeholder agreements.
In terms of technical characteristics, the wind farm consists of two Siemens Gamesa G-132 wind turbines with an individual power of 3.65 MW, a hub height of 84 meters and a rotor diameter of 132 meters.
One of the most important aspects in the execution of the project were the measures to protect the cultural heritage, with special attention to the complementary measures established for the replacement of a burial mound. This archaeological element had been destroyed for years, and it has been completely restored, which will allow its value to be enhanced once the recovery process has been completed.
